Placement Testing

Students can meet the placement testing requirements by taking the Accuplacer or the ACT. Required placement scores must be received before students can enroll in classes at Metropolitan Community College (MCC).

***The Accuplacer is typically offered at each LSR7 high school during the spring semester. Check with the high school Counseling Center for information.

Students must Test into: ENGL 101, Read Recommended or No Reading Required, & MATH 120 or higher (only required for student interested in taking a math class, ECON 210 & ECON 211, or CHEM 111)

ACT Information:

The ACT is a standardized test used for college admission. There is a fee associated with this test and the test is only offered on national test dates. (Fee Vouchers are available to students who qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. See your high school counselor for more information)

Students need the following scores to meet MCC placement requirements:

ACT English:  18 or higher

ACT Reading:  18 or higher

ACT Math: 22 (College Algebra, Statistics) or 26 (Trigonometry, Precalculus, Analytic Geometry & Calculus I)

* only required for student interested in taking a math class, ECON 210 & ECON 211, or CHEM 111
